Self-confidence is believing in yourself and your abilities.
Confidence not only increases our mental well-being, but also allows us to live a more fulfilled life, and helps us face challenges and overcome obstacles.
So how do we increase our confidence in a world where the media bombards us with messages on how we should look & what we should own to be successful?
Here are 3 ways you can boost your self-confidence so you can stop feeling like you are not enough.
1. Positive Self Talk
Be aware of your thoughts and what you are saying to yourself. The more we reinforce negative thoughts the more we self-consciously believe them.
One of my favorite exercises that reinforces positive self-talk is Jack Canfield’s mirror exercise. Try it for yourself here.
2. Do something that makes you feel fabulous
What brings out your inner Sasha Fierce? For me, it’s wearing red lipstick. Maybe for you, it’s a killer pair of shoes or curling your hair, whatever it is you deserve to feel fabulous honey!
3. Stop comparing yourself to others
In today’s society, we spend a large portion of our time on social media. We mindlessly scroll through feed after feed of perfectly curated content. It’s no wonder comparison syndrome is on the rise! This is a huge culprit for triggering insecurities and deflating our self-esteem. So do yourself a favor and limit time on social media, and remind yourself that those perfectly edited photos were one of many to be “the perfect shot”.
